Eloping took off during covid as a way around restrictions, and lots of people realised it was also just a sensible way to get married!
Australia is one of the more flexible countries to do it in, which is a big reason eloping to Australia from another country works so well. These are the two questions we hear a lot:

Margaret River is a popular tourist destination, and it’s not hard to see why! The South West is one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots, and the landscape shows it.
The region first became known for its surf, then for its wine. The climate is similar to Bordeaux, and Margaret River makes around 3% of Australia’s grapes but about 20% of its premium wine.
Adventure elopements usually mean getting married on a mountain. Here, you get tall karri forests, raw and rugged coastline, and white sand beaches (arguably the best in the world), all close enough together that you don’t have to pick just one! No, you don’t need a special one. Getting married in Australia as a foreigner just means holding a valid visa to enter the country, which is usually a tourist visa, eVisitor or ETA depending on your passport.
If you plan to live here after the wedding, that’s a separate visa question, so check with the Department of Home Affairs.

All international flights into Western Australia land in Perth, and from Perth airport it’s about a three hour drive to Margaret River. If you’re coming from the east coast, Jetstar flies direct from Melbourne and Sydney to Busselton Margaret River Airport, which is about 40 minutes from Margaret River town. Schedules can change, so just check the current timetable before you book.
Keep in mind the time zones too. Perth runs on UTC+8 all year with no daylight saving, so we’ll work out call times that suit both of us while you’re planning from afar.
A destination wedding in Western Australia is a long way to go for one day, so many couples turn it into a proper holiday. Our mini moon packages show how that can work with accommodation, food, and wine around your ceremony.

A: No, you only need to be here for the ceremony itself. Arriving a few days early is a good idea though, so you can settle in and get over the jet lag.
A: Yes, they need to be over 18 and be there in person on the day, but they don’t have to live in Australia. If it’s just the two of you, we’ll be your witnesses!
