elope in the south west of Western Australia's rugged coastline

There are countless romantic places to elope in South West Australia that you’re absolutely spoilt for choice when choosing an elopement location. With so many things to consider and such incredible options, where do you even begin? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Just take a deep breath, relax, and follow these steps and you’ll find the elopement location in South West WA where you can have the adventure elopement of your dreams.

Here’s how to pick the perfect elopement location in South West WA!

1. Ask Yourself: Who Are We As A Couple?

The first step when figuring out how to choose where to elope in South West Australia is to take some time to reflect on who you are as a couple. Your love story is unique and completely one-of-a-kind, and you deserve to get married in a location that speaks to who you truly are!

Ask yourself: What are your interests? What kind of adventure elopement would speak to your passions? Are you the kind of couple that embraces an epic adventure in the middle of nature? If so, are you more inspired by the forest or the ocean? Or perhaps by bucolic scenes of picturesque farmland?

Maybe you’re envisioning a long weekend at a boutique retreat or a night or two tucked away in a gorgeous country cottage, surrounded by rolling hills and the sound of birdsong. Whatever environment you feel is the most “YOU” is something that we can make happen.

2. “Should We Elope?”

Deciding between an elopement and a traditional marriage is a big decision! It’s important to go into this process with as much information as possible. You can learn more about the pros and cons of eloping in the handy guide we put together. Here are some top-line factors to consider when deciding whether you should elope:

Cost

This is a big one! Traditional marriages in Australia can often run between $30k-$60k. Eloping reduces this cost significantly, but it also means that you’ll have to limit the number of guests who can be there to share your special day with you.

Who’s Coming?

Speaking of guests, be sure to consider how many people you want present at your big day. A wedding is generally considered an elopement with anywhere from zero to 10 guests.

Many couples find it easiest to have zero guests as this limits any potential family feuds! If it’s just going to be the two of you, that’s awesome, and we’d be more than happy to be your witnesses. If you’re planning on inviting a few guests, that’s awesome too. You can have your pick of the best elopement destinations for a small wedding party, then take the celebrations elsewhere afterwards — maybe some bespoke catering at your accommodation, or a delicious meal out at a lovely local restaurant.

How Do You Envision Your Wedding Day?

If you picture yourself getting married in an intimate ceremony surrounded by the wild natural beauty of South West WA, then an elopement could be the best choice for you!

Envision your ultimate wedding day — the environment, the number of people, the party — and start planning your day around this ideal image. We’ll make sure that you end up with the adventure elopement of your dreams!

3. Who Is This About?

When exploring the best elopement locations in South West WA, remember that this day is all about YOU. Whether you’re planning on elopement with just the two of you or with a few of your closest loved ones, your options are really limitless!

For couples with adventurous spirits and a love of nature, our all-inclusive Wild Package in Margaret River and Pemberton is perfect — giving you an intimate, one-of-a-kind experience that’s unforgettable. (If you have your heart set on a location beyond these areas, we can absolutely tailor our packages within reason!).

If you’re planning on having a few guests at your elopement, you can still sneak away for an epic adventure after the ceremony! Our elopement adventures take about a couple of hours, so after you’ve had your moment together, you can rejoin your guests and continue the celebration.

On the other hand, if you want your guests to be with you at every moment of your elopement, then we’ll choose a location that’s easily accessible — unless your guests have some mad 4-wheel driving skills! For couples whose guests are just as adventurous as they are, we do have a 7-seat car that can accommodate two extra guests and your celebrant.

4. What’s The After Party Plan?

Deciding where to hold your elopement’s after party will probably be determined by the number of guests you have.

For elopements with a few guests, you’ll probably want to choose an elopement location in either the Pemberton or Margaret River area. These regions have some absolute gems for intimate dining for a small wedding party, including private self-catering venues and amazing restaurants.

Keep in mind, though, that in regional Western Australia dining options can sometimes be limited — you’ll have to be savvy about your plans, particularly if you’re wanting to get married during weekdays. Fortunately, this is where our extensive knowledge of the area can once again come in handy. We can help you organise a special meal for two (how does an incredible fine dining experience at your Margaret River accommodation sound?!), or give you recommendations if you’re looking to put together a bigger post-ceremony celebration — there are a few little gems in this area that we’d be happy to put forward.
