Our guide to Margaret River

Margaret River is where romance meets adventure! From the most magical forests and amazing coastline, this region offers epic backdrops to say “I do” in your own way.

You’ll want to stay a few days (or longer!) to soak up all the vibes here, enjoying the local cuisine, wineries, and unique outdoor adventures that WA’s Margaret River is known for.

This Margaret River wedding guide is created from mine and Lukas’ own adventures as foodies, wine and beer lovers, and explorers at heart. These are our favourite places to eat, stay, and relax during your elopement so you can experience the region like we do!

Super convenient eateries for couples staying at 8 Paddocks

We’re so thrilled to partner with 8 Paddocks, our top choice for lux wedding accommodation in Margaret River. If you’re staying here as part of our Wild Deluxe package, you’ll love waking up in one of their contemporary chalets with serene farmland views. This is also the perfect spot for a luxury honeymoon! It’s slightly off the beaten track yet still close to the hustle and bustle. The perfect adult’s retreat.

If you’re staying at 8 Paddocks for your Margaret River destination wedding, you’ll love being so close to these gorgeous restaurants.

  • Smithereens Cafe: This welcoming local cafe does both gluten-free and vegan brekkies so well, the perfect place to fuel up before a day of adventure.
  • Gourmet Food Merchant: Their lux hampers and food baskets seriously are the region’s best, so stop here before planning a picnic into your Margaret River honeymoon itinerary.
  • Margaret River Hampers: Featuring local produce and artisan ingredients, these hampers are made for romantic picnics or lazy afternoons.
  • The Servo Taphouse: Local brews, live music, and a gorgeous pub menu … a casual lunch or dinner here is always so much fun!
  • Beerfarm: Victoria’s absolute favourite! An old dairy farm turned brewery with seriously good food. Soak up the sunshine and vibes at this awesome afternoon hangout. And don’t forget to grab a few takeouts to enjoy back at 8 Paddocks afterwards.

Great Margaret River cafes for couples to check out

If you’re staying elsewhere, or plan on exploring the region after your elopement, these Margaret River cafes are 100% worth a stop!

  • Drift Cafe: Set in a former library, this cafe is known by the locals for being the best coffee in town, paired with a gorgeous menu that always hits the spot. They individually weigh the beans and measure the flow for each cup served and use only the best products (milk, coffee, powder, chocolate).
  • Riversmith: Grab a table outside and watch the world go by! This stylish cafe offers an innovative menu and top-notch hospitality.
  • Blue Ginger Fine Foods & Cafe: Stop in for a relaxed cafe or pick up one of their amazing deli sandwiches, the perfect fuel after a hike or morning adventure.
  • Sidekick Cafe: A laid-back local favourite with great coffee, fresh bites, and a welcoming vibe … perfect for starting your day in the heart of town.

Getting married in Margaret River is all about long lunches and romantic dinners

Margaret River may be world-famous for its wine and surf, but in recent years it’s also become a hot spot for craft beer lovers, with new breweries popping up all over. Just be sure to book ahead during peak season (we’re happy to take care of this for you as part of our elopement packages in Margaret River)!

  • Margaret River Brewhouse: Another team favourite, this relaxed brewery is open for both lunch and dinner, with GREAT beer and top notch eats too!
  • CBCo Brewing: Set on 70 acres of serene farmland, the beers and paddock-to-plate dining are ideal for a casual lunch or afternoon snack.
  • Cheeky Monkey Brewery: The brand’s original brewpub, Caves Road, is the ideal place to visit on a sunny afternoon.
  • Fishbone Wines: If you fancy something a little different, this family-owned cellar door and restaurant serves up a Japanese-inspired menu. You can also hire out a private area for a long lunch with mates, and check out The Margaret River Chocolate Factory opposite it!
  • Rustico at Hay Shed Hill: A foodie favourite and winner of Best Tourism Restaurant at the 2025 Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence, this spot pairs Hay Shed Hill’s award-winning wines with modern Spanish tapas made for sharing.
  • White Elephant Cafe: We always recommend this cute cafe as it offers beachside views and fast and fresh options for brekkie and lunch.
  • Swings & Roundabouts Taphouse: Conveniently located in the heart of Margaret River, this vibrant spot serves a seasonal menu alongside local wines and craft beers … perfect for a relaxed meal together.

You want to treat yourself on your Margaret River adventure elopement, so enjoy some gorgeous dinners in the region, paired with local wines, of course. You’ll love these local restaurants for a romantic dinner!

  • Morries: Innovative cocktails and a seasonal tapas-style menu, this chic restaurant oozes date night energy! The intimate, romantic atmosphere here is perfect for soaking up all the newlywed bliss while enjoying amazing cuisine.
  • De’sendent: Recently named Best New Restaurant in WA by the 2025 Good Food Guide, this spot offers a refined seasonal tasting menu that’s perfect for a post-elopement celebration.

Alongside the incredible food and drinks scene, you can slow down, wander, and stay as long as you like, planning time for long lunches, walks, and scenic detours.
